Vienna Contemporary 2019: For our 2019 application we decided to present a series of recently finalized drawings by Radu Oreian, alongside a series of monotypes made in 1965 by Ciprian Radovan.

Marx Halle Vienna, 26 - 29 September 2019

Ciprian Radovan (b. 1939) & Radu Oreian (b. 1984)

We have always juxtapose artists of two different generations at Viennacontemporary. For our 2019 application we decided to present a series of recently finalized drawings by Radu Oreian, alongside a series of monotypes made in 1965 by Ciprian Radovan. On a formal aesthetical level both artists are allured by a brown-earthy color pallet, using fine details in order to create very complicated, but at the same time fragile structures, that generate worlds of scattered memories on a fictional past.  On a conceptual level both artists are storytellers of a palpable, though invented history, or archeologies that could be real or could have happened only in our dreams. Throughout their creation, both artists pendulate between abstraction and figuration, being fascinated by the microscopical, but abstract structure of all living.

From 26 to 29 September 2019 more than 110 participating galleries from 26 countries present their artists and programs in the Marx Halle and offers a unique insight into the vibrant contemporary art scene. Come find us at booth E16!
