1.1.1. & Sigma1 Retrospective exhibition
The uniqueness of the artistic practices promoted within the Sigma1 group relies on a transgression of the linear approach of the aesthetic phenomenon. The approach is realized through “bionic” research: the interaction between different artistic media and social scientific disciplines.
Sigma Group 1 is a historical group that appeared in Timisoara in 1969 and was active until the mid 80s. The active members of the group were Ştefan Bertalan, Constantin Flondor and Doru Tulcan, who were joined for short periods by mathematician Lucian Codreanu, Ion Gaita and Elisha Rusu. Sigma 1 assimilated within the dynamics of its evolution the constructive art experiences previously undertaken by Stefan Bertalan and Constantin Flondor with Roman Cotoşman in the group 1.1.1.
The exhibition curated by Ileana Pintilie will showcase the work of Roman Cotosman, Constantin Flondor, Stefan Bertalan and Doru Tulcan.
The project is made by Jecza Gallery in collaboration with Fundatia Triade, Johnen Gallery Berlin, Diehl Gallery Berlin, Baril Gallery Cluj and The Museum of Art Timisoara, being supported by The Office Cluj-Napoca.
